rainbow butterfly dreamsFriends, Advocates, Organizations, Foundations, Survivors

All are Welcome!!!

Today I’d like to make the official announcement of my next step in this journey.

Founder; Butterfly Dreams Abuse Recovery

You are invited to visit the new website and check out the information. You will find the ‘Welcome’ page to enlighten on what is happening here. There are hundreds of worthy, devoted, trusted organizations and foundations building change for our next generation. Now I’ve used my thirty-two years in horrifying abuse, violence, attempted murderous acts against me, to help bring empowerment and healing to others.

With great pride I can say I’ve truly made it through a positive path to freedom and have made some amazing connections along the way. Now I’d like to take all of those Advocates/Bloggers/Foundations & Organizations and share them as resources to help all survivors find their own healing path.

For those who know me, you know my heart and where my truth lies; I’m focused in this mission to bring an end to Family Violence and Abuse against those we should love, support, and guide. I am also determined to bring some sense of understanding the impact of these personal violations, helping others to heal and find their true path to freedom.

Its important to understand these actions against those closest to us have existed since the beginning of mankind as a struggle to power over another. I’ve shared my voice many times, throughout published articles, interviews, blogtalk radio broadcasts and more about the generational acceptance and pattern of trained behaviors, which have grown to program our ever-growing violent society.

Now I’ve joined up with my dear friend and talented Watercolor Artist, Michal Madison; as we build Butterfly Dreams Abuse Recovery. It is very exciting to look at the upcoming year and where our footsteps will lead us next. We are bringing a new broadcast program to the many others on blog talk radio programming!!! Look for more information to come as we approach January 3rd, 2013.

There is tons of information I’ve shared as my own healing and coping tools, which you are invited to view on the separate pages of the new site. You will also find an excellent collection of resources provided to help you research your best path. There are many different ways to connect with the emotions of all that’s happened, many ways to express these trapped nightmares so that we may begin to walk in freedom and inspire others to choose their new life. On the ‘Resources’ page you will find many whom you can depend on for help, guidance, support, understanding and ways to heal. You will also find ‘Radio World’ a resource collection of other blog talk radio programs from those devoted advocates sharing news, information, interviews and tools.

You will also find ‘Generation No More’ this is the beginning of our children’s tomorrow. We are the generation now speaking out of these horrors to prevent it happening again. As we share our stories there is another victim who is given a voice. Another broken soul who is hearing your words, which empowers them with the comfort in numbers to feel safe. On this page you are asked to sign the guest book, share your non-profit org or foundation, share your local resources so our list can continue to grow. We are all in this together and only mankind can create a better way of living, a safer home for everyone; this may be the only cure for this growing plague of man-made cancer eating away at our society!!!

Along with this new website is the online support group I founded back in January 2011, Survivors World!!! This online group is open to both men and women who have been victims of some form of abuse or violence against them. You can join in conversations, connect with others like yourself, learn to be empowered in your life. Always believe in the happiness you deserve and never give up on the hope for tomorrow. It is through believing in our recovery that will help you move forward. Be empowered to join in with others as we take ‘Survivors World’ online to help support everyone impacted by these generational crimes against those within the walls of our homes.

Our children are depending on us to give them something better. We all have made a committment to provide them a better way than we were given. It is by healing from the abuses against us that each of us begins to understand how our puzzle got so busted and our brains rewired through the abrupt interruption of our ‘normal’ growth and development. These crimes leave a lifelong impact with deep emotional wounds. When we understand how PTSD, Depression, Anxiety, Self Destructive Behaviors and more affect our daily lives; then we can use our coping skills to help us get through to tomorrow.

What can you do to help? Simply, GET THE WORD OUT!!!

I am so excited to begin this new journey and provide all I can to help others. Michal and I are getting more and more excited about the upcoming New Year of 2013 and the beginning of our broadcasting. As you may also  know however, I don’t do very well at marketing myself or what I’ve got to share. My mission is to be active in helping others so I don’t do much at promoting, such as with ‘My Justice’ you may notice you see very little in promotions on this.

‘My Justice’ has been highly rated and reviewed by Psychology Professionals, Authors, Survivors, Educators, Highly Praised Attorneys, and of course many of you. In fact, there has yet to be one person who isn’t deeply touched in some way by this story. Yet I rarely share their reviews, feel guilty when I give myself praise of any form; another lasting impact from the many years of being emotionally broken down to believe I was unworthy of human kindness by anyone. This is a daily process for any survivor as you well know.

So how do I expect my work and my continued efforts to be noticed? By the support, friendship, and word of mouth marketing from all of you!!! It is you who have read the story, perhaps you want to pass the book on to another? It is you who connect and share your powerful stories with me in trust and safety, so you know my devotion. It is you who responds and shares of how you were inspired by something I did or said in some way!!! This my friends to me is phenomenal!!!

It is your support and your word of mouth that I trust and believe in!!! If anything I do is worth recognizing or believing, then you will pass it on to another and hopefully they too will be inspired to believe in their true freedom. It is with all voices talking that it will all make a difference and be recognized for the truth we provide and the hope we give to our children; humanity’s only hope in bringing a break to the cycle of what has been so commonly accepted as normal!!!

Please visit the new site; http://www.butterflydreamsabuserecovery.com

Live in your positive truth!!!

Freedom is a path we all deserve!!

Your healing begins as your cocoon opens;

the wings to your soul spread;

fly into your new beginning!!!

What does standing strong mean?

Author: "My Justice" Stand strong like that single blade of grass which takes all Mother Nature has to give, and through the power of its roots and the entwined support provided; it not only grows – it thrives!!!

“What does standing strong mean”. Everyone has always told me, at least throughout my adult life, “Trish, just be strong and keep moving forward”. I take time to reflect now in my SAFE & LOVED WORLD, what does this mean and how has it built who I am today.

Standing strong means to endure cruelty beyond imagination and come out with a positive loving view of our world on the other side. As I look out at the green life sprouting back after the cold winter days; I was taken to thinking about the very smallest blade of grass. It stands there always, it takes all that mother nature dishes out and still remains standing. It’s very likely that you will never kill it even though it may go dormant for some time; it will return.

The grass is built by its roots. It gets its strength through how determined its roots are to hanging on. At times it has very few supporters around, but also it can be sitting pleasantly among many; standing and waiting to be counted.

The cycle of life begins with that blade of grass. It gives off oxygen for human life. It gives beauty, comfort, and safety to the minute bugs that live within its depth. We, as humans, give back to it the carbon dioxide that it needs to thrive and grow stronger with each day.

The meaning of standing strong is to simply endure, learn, and move forward. We all have a purpose in this world, even if we are not sure of that purpose. We are no less than life for that single blade of grass. Without our exhale it would not exist.

When you find yourself in question of existence, perhaps remember…..

Stand Strong and believe that the storms will pass. They may rock you and even threaten to loosen your ground, but they will pass and you will grow from the moisture they give. Every tear you shed will water your roots and you will grow wiser and more capable. We are survivors, each and every living micro on this planet. Children are the roots of life to come. Just as we plant that grass seed and provide it with water, nourishment and loving care; we must also provide the same to our children. Never allow the dark storms of harm to take them from this cycle of life. They depend on us to protect and support them as they grow. This is much the same as the patches of grass that grow and slowly come together as a huge comfortable blanket to protect the earth and cushion us as we fall. Lay and be energized by the strength in the roots which have created you today!!

You matter 🙂

Do We Really Understand What This Means????

This is a picture of me as a child when the abuse from the man who became my stepfather first occurred. Do you see the innocence shared in this child’s face? Do you see the sparkling young girl who is waiting to bloom? This child died!!!!

In the very midst of the Sandusky Trial, I have to wonder if we really appreciate what this means? This is a Voice Awakening Event for all who are survivors of Child Sexual Abuse. This trial will represent what our future in the battle to end this abuse will be. We can now step forward without shame or fear and speak out about the abuses we have endured.

There are literally millions of us walking about in this world each day. We carry these deep dark secrets of our past, hoping that no one sees what disgusting acts we have had to commit and accept in order to get through our days. We were children who wanted to run and play with our friends. We tried to do our homework and pay attention in our classes. We cried in silence as the evil acts destroyed our souls.

This is the time that I am asking all survivors of abuse to pull together on the internet and within our own community; this is the time to speak about the secrets we have kept. Remember that these are not good secrets!!! These are black ugly secrets that have trapped us in a world separate from our true happiness. You can now face yourself in the mirror and utter the voice of your child.

I am at a new place in my life now after sharing my voice to help support and empower other survivors of abuse, both child abuse & domestic violence. I lived that ugly life of a continued acceptance of the cruelty that was taught to me as a child. I have made the mistakes of a woman and mother in this continued pattern of life. It is the deep dark secrets that move forward with us and will sneak out at times to effect and destroy all that is good in our world. Since I published my own true horror story of a lifetime spent in abuse, have learned the power of releasing these secrets.

My life has been renewed in many ways. First and foremost is the repair of the relationship between myself and my children. My eyes now can see the wonderful blessings I have been given and appreciate the peace that continues to grow within. I encourage all survivors of abuse to please now take this opportunity. You do not have to go public with your ugly secrets. You only have to admit them to yourself. You only have to look in the mirror and finally say, “I was sexually abused as a child.” That is the most powerful beginning one can offer you. This trial will give many the courage to speak out publicly, but most important is simply admitting it to yourself. Embrace the child that still lives within and holds these secrets with her mouth held tight. Allow this child to finally breathe and give her the voice that was taken.

You are a beautiful rose waiting to bloom. Take this amazing chance and comfort that child within. Let her see the love & safety around her. Let her see where her life is at now and where it can go in the future. Be empowered and encouraged to join with other survivors and take a stand to protect the children of our next generation. Be part of this wonderful journey.

I beg you to please share this blog with others. Please let everyone know that this is our chance to speak without shame or blame; to finally remove the stain of silence that has been forced upon us. Join me and encourage those around you to give voice to these ugly vicious crimes; the crimes that destroy not only your life, but also affect the live’s of our children and grandchildren.

We all deserve to have roses in our garden of life. Please do not keep these secrets of silent destruction. Share them as we support all who come forward. Justice is a voice we all deserve!!!!

Blessings of Love & Light

We are now into the last full week of April 2012, Do you know what special awareness month this is supposed to be? This blog will explain why this question is so very important as we go along.

First let me say that I never used to know what the true specialty of this month meant; neither did any of my friends. To me this is extremely sad and in all honesty, a bit scary.

Throughout this month so far, I’ve been watching and looking around, kind of listening to see if anyone picks up on this and what they are pushing for during April. I’ve seen and heard about awareness for things such as, Autism; Sexual Assault, and on our local news, I even heard an announcement for Hairball Awareness Day!!! All I can say is Wow!!!

Now don’t think for a moment that I am down playing Autism or Sexual Assault. The Autism disease actually effects 1 in 100 of our children, Sexual Assault (Rape) effects 1 in 4 women & 1 in 6 men according to national reports from many available web sites. Definitely these are an important issue and we do need to support them, but Hairball Day, do we really need that one?

The saddest part of this Awareness in April and the reason for this post title, is that APRIL IS CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH!!! Shouldn’t this be the direct and most important awareness issue for this special month? I don’t know about your area, but in my small mid-western area of South-Central Illinois, the only child abuse awareness or discussion has been the Balloon Release Event that I initiated.

I do know through my contacts and friends on the social media sites that many other Child Abuse Advocates and organizations have done a special awareness events  for this month. Those I am aware of personally are gaining in strength.

Please support:

Stop Abusing Your Children – Stacey & Jeff Sutphen – They have filmed and are fighting now for the share of a Public Service Announcement, which so far is going to be shared on Bravo!!!

NAASCA.org – Bill Murray and his amazing team hosted a truly honoring event in their area of Sacramento, CA along with “Army of Angels” to kick off a two-week long commemoration of Child Abuse Prevention Cross Country Motorcycle Run.

Debbie Splawn-Bunch – Dreamcatchers for Abused Children National Spokesperson – Held the first annual Candle Light Vigil at Cole’s Garden in Oklahoma City, OK. She and her local citizens, who had been hit by a series of tornados the day before, attended and asked us around the country to dedicate a moment of silence for our children as we remember those who have been destroyed and even killed by the crimes of abuse.

Tricia McKnight –  Held the first annual Balloon Release Event in Breese, IL. and our local citizens showed support through silent auction donations and more. Our local Mayor, Charlie Hilmes and my Fourth Grade Teacher, Ms. Linda Walcher took part and gave a few moments of speech in the support of our event and discussed the extreme silence of this crime and how our children can so easily be overlooked when burdened in shame and secrecy. We also had a special share from Mr. Carl Hart who is a member of the NAASCA organization and supporter of Just Tell, teens reaching out to teens.

So with all of the above news, why do I say,”Tears in April”? Think for just a moment about this very important fact; EVERY 5 SECONDS A CHILD IS BEING HURT OR RAPED BY SOMEONE THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO TRUST WITH THEIR SAFETY!!! In fact, most of these children have to live, eat dinner and sleep in the same house, with the person who is causing this pain. Their lives are being destroyed and then they are forced to carry the secrets of what happened within their home. They’re going to school every day worrying about what could happen to them that night. NEVER knowing from one moment to the next if the very safety of their home will change into evil and attack them.

To think that this very special awareness in the month of April is not getting recognition;  published in every newspaper and TV station across the globe, is not only disheartening for our children but extremely sad. Our children are depending on us to provide them with love, guidance, support and yes, even necessary correcting/parenting, but we cannot even give their lives ONE MONTH OF TRIBUTE. This is an utmost cruelty and sadness for them. What will they think of us as people when this new generation gets old enough to understand this meaning?

Overall child abuse has increased due to the state of our global and national economy. Child deaths are now estimated at 5 each day, but in Illinois alone we lost 161 children from abuse & neglect in 2010. We also had a total of 9,457 cases of Sexual Abuse, this is just across our one state. What are the stats of your state? Check the DCFS or DHS/CPS web sites for your state to find out.

The fact that these numbers continue to rise and we cannot Nationally Recognize & Support the efforts to bring a huge awareness across our country for their safety and well-being is so tragic. What will they think of us indeed? How will they see our views on this issue? What examples are we giving them? We see commercials constantly about the support for Animals; Children Abroad; and many different diseases, but the most serious disease, the cancer eating away at our human kindness, does not get the major support across our states. Everyone seems to feel drawing attention to this evil makes it too real to accept, but for the majority of our generations this evil has been accepted as “Normal”; “Not Damaging”; “Just a Part of Life”, for centuries now. I have to ask, “When will this crime and torture of our children no longer be accepted”?

It has been proven that the long-term effect of Abuse, the emotional and mental health treatment of those who survive these horrific traumas, is costing our country an estimated $124 Billion Dollars a year!!! You can find this fact and many more about the life long effect from Child Abuse and Rape on the National Institute for Mental Health or http://www.nimh.gov  Survivors are often so deeply affected with major signs being overwhelming between the ages of late 20’s to mid 30’s, when we are becoming adults and parents ourselves. This causes our families and marriages to be destroyed. It causes us so much physical and emotional damage that maintaining stability in our lives and being a productive member of society is almost impossible. The worst effect from abuse is the cycle that carries it forward to invade the live’s of our own children, either by our actions or our decisions; such as allowing this to continue as an UN-NOTICED CRIME!!

Please join with me and the many other organizations, foundations, and advocates who stand and encourage you to take part in the awareness and educational events for the last remaining week of April. We need to come together as a society to give true honor, support and the public attention that our children deserve!!! Why should it be so shameful to speak publicly and support the safety of our children? We can stop the “Tears in April” by changing our view of this subject. Simply watching and caring about the children in our circles is a small way to make a very big difference. They need to see our sincere love and deep appreciation of who they are and the possibilities of who they can become. If we are the generation that begins this movement to protect them and provide a positive influence in their lives, look at what changes they can bring to our world. One or more of them may be the scientist who creates a cure for Cancer, Aids, Autism, Schizophrenia; maybe even a pill to prevent a prone nature of violence. How can we as a human race turn away and ignore this special month? How can we not have huge Blue Ribbons of support or Walks for Awareness; beautiful Candle Light Vigils across the country? How is it that we cannot provide a DONATED television commercial to run on all local stations across the country? How can we not find those famous voices of support from Actors/ Actresses/ Government Officials and more to stand up and speak out against these heinous crimes? How can we continue to turn away from the SURVIVORS OF ABUSE and tell them to “Just get over it”??!!!

This blog is one of the many publications from Author, Patricia A. McKnight and is held in the same copy write for the novel, “My Justice” and all other information pertaining to her articles, books, blogs, and more. You can join with me on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/triciagirl62 or on Twitter @triciagirl62. There is also a women’s private support group that I founded and mange online through Facebook. If you are interested in being a member please send a “Friend Request” so that we can connect and talk further.

I strongly encourage anyone who is a survivor of childhood abuse to speak up and be heard, use your voice and your story to help create a world wide awareness to the horrific nature of these crimes and the devastating long term effect that plagues our lives and continues to destroy the children of our next generation. Please stand with us and be the generation that screams out to all, “NO MORE ABUSE AGAINST OUR CHILDREN”!!!

Reaching out to locals – St. Louis & Chicago

Reaching out to connect with the survivors of abuse in my local area. I would like to invite you to connect with me and also to encourage you to share your story. Dreamcatchers for Abused Children has brought me on board with their blog talk radio programming to give the survivors of abuse a place to share their story; anonymously, so that we can create a wave of awareness against these crimes across the world. There is also a safe group online that I have created for women who have been or are now suffering in the silence of abuse. We can help you to find the right contacts to give you support or work with you to find a shelter if needed; we are here to support whatever your daily situation may bring, good or bad.

You will see a link below that shows an article in the Belleville News Democrat; my story was then sent out across the country; carried in over 40 different news sites,
(i.e. washington post, chicago tribune, desert news). In February of 2011, I published my horrific story of a life stolen away by the sadistic and severely neglectful crimes of my mother and stepfather. The novel is titled, “My Justice” and it is written to give the little girl I once was the voice she never had. The abuse I suffered for twelve continuous years as a child until I finally left home at seventeen, actually trained me into a pattern of accepting the abuses against me in my adult relationships. It also trapped me in a world of covering up who I really was inside and carrying the secrets I was too ashamed and too terrified to speak about.

The pattern of life that followed for over twenty years was one of self destructive behavior involving alcohol, smoking weed, being with the wrong men, always seeking attention from men, and making a lot of the wrong choices. This unfortunately reflected on how I was as a mother and the influence my decisions had on my children’s lives. The chaos that filled the lives of my children’s home is a burden of guilt I may never be able to forgive myself for, mainly because they grew up watching their mother get beaten, degraded, seeing me drunk at times as they got older, even knowing that I was smoking weed to get through my days. How do you think my decisions as a broken soul and YOUR decisions and pattern of behavior effect your children?

This is why I am working hard to bring our survivor voices together. It is truly a deep sense of peace when you can honestly start speaking about the person you are inside. It allows you to view how the choices you have made were directly reflected by the abuses and secrets you carry. That pattern leaves a strong affect on your children’s lives and the cycle of bad behavior and abuse is carried forward. Your children are then forced to carry the secrets of what they see in their home. They feel the pain of their mother as she is getting beaten and destructed by the man she loves. It passes into their relationships and creates a pattern of bad choices and possibly shame from abuse by someone they trust.

It is my belief that the cycle of abuse will not stop until we, as survivors, create a wave of awareness and voices to speak out against it and truly start making the changes in our behavior to change the way it affects our children. This is the reason I am reaching out to all of you. Please join me on the show “Survivors Speak Out” or even join in with our women’s support group online, “Survivors World”, if you would like to have some positive and encouraging support as you start to come forward about the honesty of your past. I have provided all the links below for; my book, the blog talk radio program; and my facebook connection to join in with our private group.

SURVIVORS CAN MAKE A CHANGE FOR A SAFER TOMORROW!!!!
We all deserve to have justice for our pain,
We all deserve to have safety and peace within our homes,
We all deserve to be loved and respected,
We all deserve to have roses in our garden of life!!
Thank you for giving your time and thought at reading this blog. I beg you now to please reach out and pass it forward. There are MILLIONS OF SURVIVORS living amongst our society and each of us has a voice inside that is screaming out for our own justice against the crimes we have suffered. Now is the time to join in with us to help spread this message. No longer will our voices stay silent and carry the secrets that will pass on to our children.
Bless you all,
